Monday – Friday 0700 – 1500. May change depending upon daily schedule
The Driver Trainer will provide direct instruction and supervision in all facets to Driver Trainees participating in the Hartt Transportation Systems Driver Academy to include classroom and practical driving assignments.
The training will be completed in three phases for a total of 300 hours per student. This position requires a clear understanding of all Company & FMCSA rules & regulations. A Trainer must know the risks involved should we not spend adequate time with each candidate in helping them hone their skills and help them earn the right to be placed in the position of a professional truck driver representing our company whenever they are on the public way regardless of their assignment as local, regional or over the road. Drivers with well-established safe driving records having the opportunity to come alongside others to build their foundation of skills for a successful career.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Road tests and assists with remedial training
Transitions to work for operations should there be a time when there are no candidates in line for training which will include but not limited to working for a local dispatch or warehouse whichever is most fitting to the terminal operations.
Supports all company policies, all highway rules and regulations to include the FMCSA regulations as it pertains to the responsibilities of a professional driver and the motor carrier or in this case Hartt Transportation Systems Inc.
Monitors daily progress and maintain a daily record of the candidate’s progress and turn in the report on a weekly basis to the Safety Coordinator for the candidate’s file.
Pre-plans each day and instructs the candidate as to what time to report to duty at the end of each day.
Reports to Safety IF or WHEN a candidate shows a skill or behavior that is unacceptable, or exemplary.
Maintains daily performance records.

Education and/or Experience
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software. Prior experience with TMW, PC Miler and Peoplenet helpful but not required.

Hartt does not require in-cab-instructor multi-day dispatches during training meaning no overnights on the road with a student in the truck. (Or if they happen, they are rare.)

Pay is very competitive, and based on experience. Salary: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
